The region, which has been an important settlement center since the early ages due to its geographical location, is İzmir, Manisa, Uşak in the north of the region; Afyon, Burdur and Antalya provinces are located in the east. The Aegean Sea draws the western border, while the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean draw the southern border. The coastline of Muğla and Aydın provinces, which make up the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts of the region, exceeds 1,250 km in total.
