HEALTH INSURANCE
For undergraduate, master's and doctoral degree programs, international students who will complete the entire academic activity at Aydın Adnan Menderes University benefit from the same health opportunities as Turkish Citizen students if they start paying their Social Security Institution (SSI) premiums within the first three (3) months of their education.
According to the law, students who do not apply for General Health Insurance (GHI) within three (3) months of enrollment cannot benefit from this right later. For this reason, students are kindly requested not to neglect this process. In case of a change of department/program and stage of study (e.g. transition from undergraduate program to graduate program), you will have the right to apply for SSI again.
Students who do not register for SSI within the first three (3) months must obtain Private Health Insurance from insurance companies that sell private health insurance services.
International students can obtain information about the necessary procedures and documents from the Guidance Service at Aydın SSI Center for insurance procedures.
Important Notes on Health Insurance
The duration of the insurance must cover the duration of the requested residence permit. For example, if you are requesting a residence permit for two (2) years, you must have health insurance for two (2) years.
A residence permit can be issued for the duration of the student's stay for students who have received General Health Insurance (GSS) within the first three (3) months of the start of their studies. However, students who have a Private Health Insurance (ÖSS) will be granted a residence permit for the duration of the ÖSS.
In order to have GHI, you need to apply via e-government within three (3) months after the date of enrollment (first university enrollment) after obtaining your foreigner ID number. In order to update your information, you need to inform your Foreigner ID Number to the International Office.
We can recommend that your passport should be 5 years old, if you have 4 years of insurance, you can get a residence permit for 4 years. (If there is a preparatory class, residence can be given for 1 year.)
