General Information


ADU Faculty of Veterinary Medicine was first established in 1987 as affiliated to Dokuz Eylül University, and with a change made in 1992, it was included in Aydın Adnan Menderes University. As the Founder Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Necdet Güzel has been appointed. The faculty has actually started education since 07.09.1993. The students who were taken in the first 3 years since 1993, started to education in Ankara University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine within the framework of a protocol signed and graduated from there. Education activities in Aydın were first started in 1995-1996 academic year in the temporary building of Aydın Provincial Directorate of Agriculture. 

With the opening of the Animal Hospital, which was established for Research, Application and Training under the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, on 04.10.1999, all departments of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine were moved to the campus within the borders of Işıklı village, which is referred to as the Western campus of Aydın Adnan Menderes University. The construction of the necessary buildings for the entire units and related activities of the faculty is still ongoing. As the Founder Dean, Prof. Dr. Necdet GÜZEL served as the Dean of our Faculty until 2002. Between 2003-2007, Prof. Dr. Hasan EREN, between 2007-2011 Prof. Dr. Ahmet Gökhan ÖNOL, between 2011-2014, Prof. Dr. Hasan EREN, and between 2014-2019 Prof. Dr. Ergün Ömer GÖKSOY was appointed as the Dean. Prof.Dr. Cavit KUM is currently the dean of the faculty. 


To provide the students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine with the undergraduate and postgraduate education required by the time at international standards; To equip students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Veterinarians with the necessary research, innovation and analytical thinking skills in all fields related to their profession; To train "Experts" that society needs in all disciplines of veterinary medicine; To establish and maintain continuing education activities that are accepted by regional, national and even international societies as well as veterinarians; To be a "Faculty of Veterinary Medicine" committed to Atatürk's principles and revolutions. In this context, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine takes it as a duty to continue practical education in animal hospitals and training farms, to provide diagnostic, clinical, pathological, preventive medicine, nutrition and other services, to provide professional consultancy to private and public institutions, and to contribute to the development of production systems in food, agriculture and animal husbandry related organizations in order to support the profession. 


To become a Faculty of Veterinary Medicine that focuses education in English in order to be an internationally recognized faculty, which is the most important scientific and professional continuing education center for veterinarians and society in our country and geography, integrating with Western Europe in the scientific and professional field and sending its academic staff to international specialization training in their field.
