About Us

Our Department Political Science and Public Administration under-graduate program has been continuing education and training since 1992.

Political Science and Public Administration, as two closely related fields, deal with academic studies of political and administrative matters. As a discipline, Political Science analyzes the diffusion process of the sources and values in a political system. The issues this discipline examines are power, authority, legitimacy, social class, gender, ethnicity and political participation along with the institutions such as government, political parties, pressure groups and international organizations. The discipline also analyzes political concepts including political justice, ideologies and freedom, democracy, moral values and equality.

The discipline of Public Administration analyses the processes by which decisions and policies are made within administrative systems and particularly within the state. The discipline also deals with the practical side of government; through the analysis of the organization, management and implementation of public policies and public organizations at national and local governments. As such, it involves program management (planning, decision-making, organizing, leading, implementing and evaluating) and resource management (human resource management and budgeting).

Political science and public administration both focus on the public arena of human society and by virtue of the commonality of their subject matters they are intricately related to one another. Public administrators cannot ignore the political environment as public policies are decided by the dynamics of political forces. Likewise, politicians cannot ignore public administrators as public policies are implemented by public administrators.

The aim of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration is to school administrators who comprehend the concept of contemparory management knowledge and information, and especially is to teach them how to compare and do research as they will be working in public sector; local governments, judicial authorities, domestic and foreign policy areas, the private sector, a variety of management levels, and in banks. Another aim is to teach them how to do research in the fields of policy, management science, and environmental problems of urbanization, local governments, public law, and international comparative education and research in the fields of politics and by means of these to make them gain the ability of versatile thinking and judgment to perform their tasks in the best way.
